San Bernardino County is currently recruiting to staff more than 300 polling places for the upcoming California Gubernatorial Recall Election on September 14. The Registrar of Voters has three programs: volunteer poll workers, county employee poll workers, and student poll workers. Training classes will be required for poll workers and are held throughout the county during normal business hours, evenings, and on weekends. The deadline to sign up is tomorrow (September 2). San Bernardino County poll workers must be 18 years or older and registered voters in the State of California. Workers need to be able to read, write, and understand English, as well as attend a two-hour training session. Poll workers prepare, open, and close polling places as well as assist voters in every aspect of the voting process. The county also offers a student poll worker program for high school students that are at least 16 years old and in good academic standing.
