COUNTY REMINDS: SAN BERNARDINO MOUNTAINS ARE CLOSED

Caltrans, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, and the county board of supervisors remind residents that the San Bernardino County mountains are closed for tourism and snow play during the COVID-19 pandemic. Traveling to the mountain areas and playing in the snow violates state and county health orders, and helps spread the coronavirus.

All ski resorts and snow play areas in San Bernardino County have been closed. Laws against parking on the roadside to play in the snow will be strictly enforced. Hotels, short-term rentals, and nonessential businesses are closed. All public parking lots and on-street public parking spaces in the City of Big Bear Lake are closed, and city enforcement staff will ticket and tow vehicles illegally parked on city streets. Motorists will likely be required to use snow chains because of expected winter driving conditions, and stranded drivers may have to wait for extended periods for assistance due to limited resources. Illegally parked vehicles are subject to fines and/or towing.
