San Bernardino County reported three more deaths and confirmed an additional 103 coronavirus cases Wednesday (May 6). COVID-19, has claimed the lives of 104 and infected 2,432 county residents, according to the county’s online dashboard. Here in the Morongo Basin we have 38 confirmed cases, Joshua Tree with 15 and two deaths, Yucca Valley 12 with one death, Morongo Valley five, and Twentynine Palms with five.
Yucca Valley Town Manager Curtis Yakimow told the town council Tuesday that 230 Morongo Basin residents were tested at Copper Mountain College April 22, and only 12 residents tested positive.
In the county of more than 2.1 million residents, 26,006 people have been tested for the disease, but only 9.4 percent were positive, according to the county’s data. Testing was up by 6.5 percent since Tuesday, May 5.
The number of cases is doubling every 11.7 days.
