COUNTY PROPERTY VALUES RAISING, SO ARE TAXES

San Bernardino County is beginning to see a slight recovery in property values, Assessor Dennis Draeger said yesterday. Since 2008, the assessor’s office has approved 200,000 reductions in assessed property values – lowering the tax payments for those owners. But for 2013, the assessor’s office expects a slight increase in property values, “This is a mixed blessing for property-owners,” Draeger said, noting that they will be glad to see the market improve but also will see increases in the assessed value of their properties, and in their property taxes.
