COUNTY PROMOTES PET SPAY, NEUTER AWARENESS

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors proclaimed February as National Spay and Neuter Awareness Month.  Locally, County residents who live in unincorporated areas of the County are eligible for the Spay & Neuter Voucher Program. The voucher program is ongoing and residents can seek vouchers for their pets any time of the year. Vouchers have a maximum value of $50 for dogs and $25 for cats.  The pet owner is responsible for any charges that exceed the voucher amounts. Pet assistance groups may be able to help with any additional charges.  For more information about these pet assistance groups, call 1-888-767-2550.

Those eligible for the program will receive a voucher and a list of the local veterinarians in the area that participate in the County voucher program.  The pet owner must make appointments with one of these veterinarians and present the voucher to them at the time of the scheduled surgery.  For more information and want to find out if you qualify for the voucher program or any other spay/neuter program, please call San Bernardino County Animal Care and Control at 1-800-472-5609 or visit their website at www.sbcounty.gov/acc .
