Short-term vacation rentals top the agenda at a public hearing when the County Planning Commission meets Thursday, August 8 at 9 a.m. in San Bernardino. Reporter Mike Lipsitz fills us in…
At this meeting, the county department of Land Use Services will look to the Planning Commission to amend the County Development Code with changes to the regulations for short-term residential rentals, including those booked through Airbnb and VRBO. The biggest change is an expansion of the code to include the Desert Region, which up to now has applied only to the Mountain Region. The proposed amendment will also add new definitions, provide clarification and address permit requirements, conditions of operation like parking standards, and occupancy limits, as well as enforcement and hosting platform requirements. Following an hour-long presentation from Land Use Services, the Planning Commission will convene a hearing to hear from the public, and ultimately vote on the changes.
