At tomorrow’s meeting, the San Bernardino County Planning Commission is holding a Public Hearing on a Conditional Use Permit application for a development project in Pioneertown. The applicant is David Corso of Pioneertown Land Company, LLC, and the permit would apply to a 1.84-acre site at 53585 Mane Street. Land Use Services staff recommends that the Planning Commission approve the Conditional Use Permit.

The proposal includes renovating the existing Sound Stage barn to operate a private meeting facility for events, wedding ceremonies, receptions, community meetings, and musical programming. It also includes an interior remodel and refurbishment of the Gazette building for a coffee and ice cream shop; construction of a 3,000 square feet  public shade pavilion with picnic tables; a mobile kitchen; a mobile snack cart/kiosk; modular public restrooms; and a 63-space parking layout.

The County Land Use Services staff has been working with the Pioneertown community to create an Overlay District that would modify the development code for the area. The regulations are designed to guide future development while maintaining the area’s unique historical and cultural design. The Conditional Use Permit proposal indicates that the renovations would adhere to the historical western architectural style found on Mane Street.

The County Planning Commission meeting is open to the public and will be held tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. at the County Government Center in San Bernardino. Remote participation for public comment will be hosted at the Joshua Tree Community Center, located at 6171 Sunburst Avenue in Joshua Tree.
