COUNTY LISTS CONFIRMED VIRUS CASES JUST UNDER 1,000 – LOCALLY 19

The number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases was just shy of 1,000 in San Bernardino County on Wednesday, April 15, as eight more deaths were also reported. Thirty-nine people have died from COVID-19, and 996 people have tested positive, according to the latest data from the county. In the Morongo Basin, the county lists Yucca Valley with seven confirmed cases, Twentynine Palms with four, Morongo Valley with four, Joshua Tree has two, and Landers with two.

Also Wednesday, officials from the Plymouth Village retirement community in Redlands confirmed that eight workers and six residents tested positive for the disease. One of those residents died. Redlands has 62 confirmed cases. Previous outbreaks have been reported at skilled nursing facilities in Yucaipa and Colton. There are 113 cases citywide in Yucaipa and 28 citywide in Colton, according to the latest data.

There have been 10,632 people tested for COVID-19 in San Bernardino County, of which 9.4 percent had positive results, the county’s data show. Women made up 50.7 percent of the cases compared to 48.8 percent men. The gender of .5 percent of the cases was unknown. Most of the cases, 461, are among people 18 to 49 years old. Meanwhile, 284 were 50 to 64 years old, 233 were older than 65 and 18 were 2 to 17 years old, according to the county.
