COUNTY LIBRARIES OFFER INCENTIVES FOR READING IN MARCH AND APRIL

The county libraries will be celebrating during March and April and residents will receive incentives for reading. For every 30 items checked out in March, readers will get a pop culture themed necklace or keychain. In April, readers will receive a super hero pin or squishy figure for checking out 30 or more items. The libraries will also celebrate Dr Seuss’s birthday in March. A week-long celebration of reading and story time events will be held March 1 through March 10. Readers who check out 15 items during the Dr. Seuss celebration period will receive a free stovepipe hat. In addition, children between the ages of 4 and 12 will have the opportunity to win vouchers for In-n-Out burgers for every five books they read between March 7 and April 18. See your library for details.

The Pop Culture Explosion incentives will be available at all 32 branch libraries, and will be given out from March 1 to April 30. Only receipts with items checked out during that time frame will be accepted.

The San Bernardino County Library invites residents to join in the celebration of everyone’s favorite author, Dr. Seuss. A week-long celebration of reading and Dr. Seuss is in store, in support of the Countywide Vision’s literacy campaign, Vision2Read, and NEA’s Read Across America initiative. Starting Sunday March 1 through Tuesday March 10, each of our 32 branch libraries will host a special-themed story time or event featuring popular Dr. Seuss stories.

All SBCL branches will host fun programs for the whole family which include crafts and, of course, reading favorite Dr. Seuss stories. Select branches will offer opportunity drawings for prizes and more. Please check with your local County library for more details.

Also, all 32 branch libraries will be offering a free stovepipe hat to those who checkout 15 items during our celebration (March 1-10) while supplies last.

The San Bernardino County Library is partnering with In-N-Out Burger again this year to promote reading among children. The Cover to Cover program kicks off on Saturday, March 7 and will run through Saturday, April 18. This program will encourage students in all communities across the county to read.

To participate in this program, sign up online through Beanstack at sbclib.beanstack.org. For every five books read, an achievement award will be unlocked on Beanstack, and a voucher for a free hamburger or cheeseburger will be issued at your local county library. Participants must be between the ages of 4 and 12, and the child needs to be present to receive a voucher. Each child may earn a total of three awards and vouchers for the duration of the program.
