The County has introduced a new, hyperlocal outreach campaign largely focusing on residents in traditionally underserved communities. The campaign, dubbed “Operation Sneakers and Vaccine Speakers,” will highlight conveniently located, neighborhood-based vaccination sites within those communities while providing additional information about the County’s vaccination program. The campaign will also help promote the state’s new $116.5 million, multi-faceted vaccine-incentive effort encouraging Californians to get vaccinated before the state’s reopening on June 15. The county operated vaccine site in Joshua Tree has moved from Copper Mountain College to the Joshua Tree Community Center Sportsman’s Park (6171 Sunburst Street). Clinics on June 3, 4, and 5 will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting June 8. It offers the Pfizer vaccine and both appointments and walk-ups are accepted. People who walk-up to a vaccination site should be prepared to register in person, which will include answering health-screening questions. Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree will hold weekly vaccination clinics for COVID-19, Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Appointments are required for the clinics and can be made through myturn.ca.gov. Appointments can be made for all sites at sbcovid19.com/vaccine.
