A third case of COVID-19 was confirmed in San Bernardino County Tuesday. The patient was identified only as a woman in her 50s; it’s not known where she lives or if she was admitted to a hospital. The county’s acting public health officer ordered on Tuesday the cancellation of all gatherings of any size in the county effective today (Wednesday, March 18) through at least April 6. The order also requires the closing of all movie theaters, gyms, health clubs, bars, adult entertainment establishments, and other businesses that serve alcohol but no food. The order does not apply to activities that are essential such as public transportation, airport travel, grocery stores, food pantries, certified farmers’ markets, and shopping stores or malls. Residents who are 65 and older, or who have underlying medical conditions, are encouraged to self-quarantine.
All San Bernardino County libraries are closed through April 3. Catholic churches in the San Bernardino Diocese will not hold any masses, funerals, weddings, or other gatherings until further notice.
