A grand jury report released Friday, recommends that the County Sheriff’s Department review its training and documentation of taser use to make sure they’re not overused by deputies. The grand jury also suggested improvements in the way the agency handles citizen complaints and that it limit prisoner information available to bail bond companies. The grand jury formed a committee to examine taser policy after three deaths in the county since 2008, the report states. The district attorney’s office found the use of force was justified in all three incidents cited in the report. In its report regarding the citizen complaint process, the grand jury recommended a refresher course on handling complaints and establishment of an annual internal audit process to review how they’re handled.
