County Fire Chief Dan Munsey has announced that effective today (Friday, December 6), the County’s burn ban has been revoked due to lower temperatures and increased precipitation. Open fires, except for campfires, must meet permit requirements. And regardless of permits, Munsey said all open fires are prohibited during Red Flag warnings or fire watch conditions, when winds exceed 10 miles per hour, or when directed by fire officials. Morongo Valley Fire Chief Gary Yearsley said there is no burn ban for Morongo Valley residents. CalFire has also lifted the burn ban in State Responsibility Areas. Managing editor Tami Roleff offers the following tips for safe outdoor burning…
While cooler temperatures and recent rains have helped to diminish the threat of wildfire, residents are asked to use caution while conducting debris burns. Burn permits are required for all burning projects. Residents must follow burning requirements and maintain control of their fire at all times. Property owners may be held liable if a fire escapes their control and/or burns the property of a neighbor. Contact your nearest CAL FIRE station or local fire department to acquire the proper permit. For more information on how to safely burn outdoors, see the links below:
