COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEET TOMORROW: MDLT AND BHDVWA LAND PURCHASE HITS SNAG

Among the many agenda items at tomorrow’s (April 12) 10 a.m. meeting of County Supervisors in San Bernardino, the board will take a look at real estate. Reporter Mike Lipsitz explains…

Everything looked good for Mojave Desert Land Trust and Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency to buy up some county-owned, tax-defaulted real estate on the cheap. But then the state auditor/controller/tax collector slammed on the brakes by objecting to the sales at rock bottom prices. Their position is that the original owner is entitled to the value of their equity even for a tax-defaulted property. The two organizations may still get the properties, but it looks like costs will be significantly higher.

Tomorrow’s meeting will be live-streamed to the video conferencing facility at the Bob Burke Government Center in Joshua Tree where the public may attend and comment.
