There are some changes in the works for business hours at the Cottonwood Visitor Center at the south end of Joshua Tree National Park. Ranger Pam Tripp has the details…
Years ago, Cottonwood Spring was an important rest stop for travelers. Today, this area still serves as an important rest stop for those beginning their trip through Joshua Tree National Park. Presently, a road construction project along the Pinto Basin Road could delay your trip up to 30 minutes, but there are still many opportunities to enjoy the expansive views. Stop in at the Cottonwood visitor center to find out how to enjoy the desert during this project. Due to road construction schedules, and a lowered summer staff of rangers, there will, however, be a change in the Cottonwood visitor center operating house. Beginning April 29, the visitor center will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, while on Saturday and Sunday the hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information on current road conditions and construction in the Pinto Basin area, call 760-367-5500, or check us out on our website at www.nps.gov/jotr.
