CORWIN MURDER SUSPECT SET FOR ARRAIGNMENT TODAY

Christopher Lee, 24 is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 today in Joshua Tree Courthouse. The County District Attorney’s office said Lee is scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge in connection with the killing of 19-year-old Erin Corwin. The District Attorney’s Office also filed the special circumstance allegation of “lying in wait.” Lee was arrested August 17, the day after the body of Corwin 19, was found in an abandoned mine shaft 140 feet below ground east of Twentynine. Lee was apprehended in his home state of Alaska. He waived extradition, and San Bernardino County sheriff’s investigators retrieved him. Corwin was married to a Marine stationed at Twentynine Palms. Investigators have said that Corwin’s friends believe she was pregnant at the time of her June 28 disappearance, possibly with Lee’s baby. They say Lee was concerned that his wife would divorce him if she found out that Lee was having an affair with Corwin.
