The Coroner’s Department has released the name of
the man who was killed in a shooting Monday night in Twentynine Palms. Wayne
Kerr, 55, was arguing with Raymond Burney, 51, in the 6300 block of Palmview
Avenue about 9:40 p.m. when Burney pulled out a gun and shot Kerr in the upper
chest. Kerr was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Burney was arrested
at the scene on suspicion of murder and is being held at the West Valley
Detention Center with his bail set at $1,550,000. Burney was on supervised
probation for a 2011 conviction of possession of cocaine base for sales.
