The County Coroner has identified the driver killed in a single car crash in Twentynine Palms Tuesday, May 10th. Investigators said Kit O’Donnell, 57, was traveling east approaching the AM/PM Arco station at Split Rock at about 11:30 am in a Ford SUV. For unknown reasons he crossed over into opposing traffic, left the roadway, traveled through the gas station and collided into a tree where the SUV came to rest. O’Donnell was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. Witnesses said it was a miracle no people or gas pumps were hit. The Morongo Basin Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Morongo Basin Station at 760-366-4175
