COPPER THIEVES KNOCK OUT LOCAL TELEVISION SERVICE

Morongo Basin residents who use the county’s over-the-air television service can thank copper thieves for knocking out their service last week. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us more…
It rarely snows in Twentynine Palms and Wonder Valley, but for folks who rely on an aerial antenna and converter box to receive over-the-air digital television broadcasts via the county’s transmission tower, snow was the only thing on TV for the better part of last week. It seems transmission ended when vandals broke into an equipment room and made off with the copper from the air conditioner causing the equipment to overheat and fail. Service was restored on Friday. Intermittent TV troubles in Morongo Valley are temporary and can be attributed to an equipment upgrade there. If you receive over-the-air digital TV from the County, or want to, and have questions or wish to report a problem, the number to call is 760-367-1833.
