Copper Mountain College’s “Howlin’ at the Mountain” lights up Joshua Tree this Saturday (10/11)

Copper Mountain College is pleased to announce the return of Ed Kabotie and Tha ‘Yoties for CMC’s annual Howlin’ at the Mountain 3, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at CMC’s campus in Joshua Tree.  Ed Kabotie and Tha ‘Yoties were the featured act for the first Howlin’ at the Mountain concert at CMC in September 2023.  This year, the Arizona and New Mexico-based reggae and rock band is returning with a larger band lineup and new material for a free concert under the desert moon.  Hunter and the Wick’d, who have opened for all Howlin’ at the Mountain concerts, will return to open for Tha ‘Yoties.  Admission for Howlin’ at the Mountain 3 is free, though donations to the CMC Foundation are welcomed.  Howlin’ at the Mountain 3 is made possible by the support of the Copper Mountain College Foundation.

Howlin’ at the Mountain 3 includes not only an outdoor live music concert, but also includes great food vendors, a margarita garden, a crafts and vintage night market, and more.  The CMC Inter-Club Council is hosting The ICC Color Run on campus before Howlin’ at the Mountain, with check-In at 3 p.m. and the run/walk beginning at 4:00 p.m.  There will be a post-race club fest from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the CMC amphitheatre at the 300 Quad.  The public is invited to participate in the Color Run, with costs beginning at $15 per participant.  The Night Market opens at 4:00 p.m., with live music in the 300 Quad beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Ed and his reggae band, Tha ‘Yoties, have performed at festivals, colleges, arts centers, and special events, from Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree to the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.  In addition to performing with Tha ‘Yoties, Ed also hosts Alter-Native history presentations – his personal musical talks about the history of the Southwest from an indigenous perspective.  He also advocates on indigenous issues from uranium mining in the Grand Canyon region, to Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP).

These events are part of Alumni Weekend at Copper Mountain College as CMC celebrates its 25th anniversary as an independent California community college.  Please visit www.cmccdc.edu/cmc25 for more 25th Anniversary events and information.

We are grateful to the Joshua Tree Retreat Center for providing accommodations for Ed Kabotie and Tha ‘Yoties.  Lighting and sound for Howlin’ at the Mountain 3 is provided by Bad Quail Sound + Light of Joshua Tree.
