Friday night the Copper Mountain College women’s basketball team won their first game in program history winning by a score of 75-50 over Gavilan College from Gilroy.
LeLisa Watson (from Page, Arizona) led the way with 16 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Celeste Reyes (Yucca Valley High School) chipped in 10 points, Chezerae Bogan-Osbey (Twentynine Palms High School) had 10 points and 12 rebounds, Adriana Delgado (San Jacinto High School) and Jhane Johnson (Tahquitz High School) also had 10 apiece.
Coach Ken Simonds said, “Our focus all week in practice was to improve our defensive rotations and ball pressure. The girls did an excellent job on the defensive end against a quick Gavilan team. I am very proud of the energy and effort they brought on defensive.” The women’s Fighting Cacti improve to 1-2 on the season and next play November 30 and December 1 in the Victor Valley College Tournament.
