Copper Mountain College is taking over a nursing scholarship for its students. Reporter Mike Lipsitz offers more details…
This year, the Martie Avels Registered Nursing Scholarships will fund the RN education of multiple students at Copper Mountain College. Martie Avels is a former emergency room nurse and Interim CEO at Hi-Desert Medical Center. She currently sits on the board of the Hi-Desert Memorial Healthcare District. Avels has a long history of service in the community and believes the partnership between the hospital and the College has been successful. Now under the CMC Foundation, this scholarship addresses the most pressing needs of CMC’s health science students, everything needed to help them become great nurses. The Martie Avels Health Science Scholarship will continue that support in the amount of $6,000 annually for 10 RN students at Copper Mountain College. If you are interested contributing to the scholarship fund, in her honor, contact the Foundation at 760-366-3791 ext. 4200 or online at cmccd.edu/Foundation.
