The Copper Mountain College Board of Trustees has announced it has offered the position of superintendent/president to Dr. Daren Otten. Reporter Eric Knabe has more on the winning candidate…
The offer of Superintendent/President to Dr. Otten is pending upon successful agreement of his contract and final approval by the Board of Trustees at its June 13 meeting. The decision to select Otten followed a vetting process and multiple candidate interviews that involved all of the District’s constituent groups, community forums, and, ultimately, the Board of Trustees.
Otten is currently the interim Vice President of Instruction and Student Services at Yuba College. Otten previously served as Dean of Applied Academics and Workforce Development, a unit with traditional CTE programs, but also home to departments of Allied Health, Public Safety, and Athletics. Prior to joining Yuba College, Otten served 11 years as faculty and vice-chair in the department of Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, and Manufacturing at CSU, Chico. Otten has a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology and Manufacturing Management, a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, both from CSU, Chico, and a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from CSU, Sacramento.
