COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE OFFERS MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID CLASSES

Copper Mountain College’s very own Library Specialist, Catherine Inscore, has acquired her certificate as an instructor, and is now offering classes in Mental Health First Aid. Reporter Eric Knabe has more about the classes and when they start…

Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, mental health first aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help. Community Education classes begin February 9, (with two consecutive four-hour classes on Saturdays). To see a list of all the Mental Health First Aid classes, call 760-366-3791 or follow the link to the CMC website at cmccd.edu under the Community Education section.
