Copper Mountain men’s basketball team dropped a tough one at home Wednesday night against visiting Santiago Canyon College, 73-68. It was the second regular season home loss in the history of the program for the Fighting Cacti.
CMC started off on fire and seemed to be in control during most of the first half and went into the locker room with a 43-39 lead. Inconsistency plagued the Cacti again as they only scored 25 points in the second half. Missed free throws and a pair of costly miscues down the stretch closed the door on the chance of victory and the Fighting Cacti fell, 73-68.
This loss made it two in a row for the Fighting Cacti and they drop to 13-10 for the year and 3-4 in the Orange Empire Conference.
Anthony Rice led Copper Mountain College with 13 points and seven assists and Zack Kroker chipped in 10 points, eight rebounds, and six blocks, respectively.
Copper Mountain will look to get back on track this Friday evening against Cypress College. Tip-off is at 5 p.m. at Copper Mountain College.
