COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE MARKS WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH

Copper Mountain College will mark Women’s History Month with a special event tomorrow. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has your invitation…
March is National Women’s History Month and Copper Mountain College marks the occasion with an annual tradition on Thursday, March 10, from noon to 1 p.m. Women and men from CMC and the Morongo Basin are invited to come dressed as their favorite woman from history and present an optional brief “in character” speech. Participants in costume are asked to meet and register in front of the Superintendent/President’s Office in Quad 100 by 11:45 a.m. A parade will then proceed across campus to the amphitheater behind Bruce’s Coyote Kitchen in Quad 300. There each participant can give a three-minute speech as their chosen woman.  Past honorees have ranged from the hatchet-wielding temperance advocate Carrie Nation to foodie pioneer and master chef Julia Child. The event is free and open to the public.
