Ming Shao, a former mathematics and science student at Copper Mountain College, identified Steve Parkin at CMC as an instructor who has had the most significant impact on his academic performance and successful entrance into University of California, Irvine. UCI is known for excellence in science, whereby three of its researchers have won Nobel Prizes in chemistry and physics. Melynie Schiel, CMC Dean of Instruction, states “Professor Parkin shows passion and commitment to his students by promoting high academic standards and advanced studies. It highlights the fact that Copper Mountain College offers students from our local community a comprehensive selection of programs and courses allowing them to complete the first two years of their Bachelor’s degree right here in the Morongo Basin.”
