The Copper Mountain College Foundation is assisting students with transportation needs. Reporter Mike Lipsitz takes a closer look…
Because transportation can be a huge barrier for college students the Copper Mountain College Foundation is breaking down that barrier for the nearly 2,000 students enrolled there. The Foundation subsidizes bus rides for CMC students through a grant from the Morongo Basin Transit Authority. Last year the program provided more than 50,000 rides at a cost of around $20,000. Enrolled students may ride the bus for fifty cents each way; $2 off the regular fare. There are no restrictions on where or when they can ride. Providing safe and reliable transportation to classes plus simplifying other tasks of daily life for students allows students to fully concentrate on coursework. The Foundation has a long history of supporting programs, facilities and activities at CMC.
