At Copper Mountain College, the Speech and Debate team has been competing in tournaments all season with two standout debaters raking in first-place trophies and countless high-ranking positions in numerous meets around the region. Now we learn that as a result of their efforts, team members Matt Evans and Anthony Matthews, will be the first CMC students to qualify for two national speech tournaments: The American Forensics Association – National Individual Event Tournament in Kansas, and The National Forensics Association Tournament in West Virginia. The costs associated with competing in the many tournaments has been largely underwritten by the College’s Foundation. Evans expressed his gratitude saying that, “Going to nationals is a great learning opportunity and we are thankful to have the support of the Foundation as well as the campus community, and the understanding and support of our professors.”
