A resolution for the superintendent/president and budget concerns were major items of interest at yesterday’s meeting of the Copper Mountain College board of trustees. Reporter Eric Knabe has the story…
Superintendent/President Jeff Cummings was honored for his years of service to Copper Mountain College. Cummings stated that it’s been an extraordinary honor and privilege to serve the institution and the board. “I cannot think of a better way to end my career,” he said.
The board was asked to approve the tentative budget for the Copper Mountain College District for the fiscal year 2019-2020.
It was shown that due to lower revenues from property taxes and a new funding formula, there was a funding shortfall affecting 40 districts, including CMC.
The state budget is being sent to the governor today for him to sign by the end of the month. Cumming said he expects a Prop 98 backfill to help remedy the situation.
