The Copper Mountain College Board of Trustees did not receive good news about its accreditation status at its regular board meeting earlier this month. Managing editor Tami Roleff explains…
The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, came out to Copper Mountain College in June 2019 and issued a report stating that the college had three areas in which it had to improve by October 2020. The Accrediting Commission reviewed the college’s follow-up report, and found that the college was still in non-compliance with the commission’s standards. College President Daren Otten and others from the college spoke to the commission in January, and secured a “good cause extension.” The college is now required to submit a follow-up report by November 1, which will be followed by a visit from a peer review team. The accredited status of the college continues during the good cause extension period.
