Copper Mountain Men’s team was back in action Friday night as they hosted defending Orange Empire Conference Champion, Orange Coast College. In the first half it seemed like things couldn’t get any worse for the Fighting Cacti as the team came out with lethargic play. Orange Coast made some three pointers and capitalized off of CMC’s early mistakes.
Despite the turbulent first half Copper Mountain would only trail at halftime 34-29. (Interim Head Coach) Walter Parham must of lit a fire under the team at halftime because they came out in the second half, a team possessed!!! Multiple defensive stops led to Slam dunks and easy baskets for the Fighting Cacti. CMC had a balanced scoring attack for the game.
Sophomore Big Man Kenny Bates had 17 points and 8 Rebounds, Sophomore Point Guard Anthony Rice had 16 points and 10 Assist, Freshman Wing Dillon Voyles had 15 points and 10 Rebounds, Sophomore Forward Dominique Anderson had 11 points and 7 Rebounds and Freshman Isayas Aris Added 10 points off the bench for Copper Mountain and the Cacti would go on to win 84-59. With the win CMC improved to 11-8 on the year and 1-2 in Orange Empire Conference play.
