In college sports, Copper Mountain College men’s basketball team took a very tough loss Wednesday night in Costa Mesa as they took on the number 9 ranked Orange Coast College Pirates. The last five minutes of the game was very scrappy and came down to a last-second score for Orange Coast to secure the win, 66-64, in a heartbreaker for Copper Mountain. The loss lands CMC at 16-7 on the year and 3-3 in Orange Empire Conference play.
Murshid Randle led the team in scoring with 15 pts.
The Copper Mountain College Lady Fighting Cacti basketball team played Orange Coast College in a road conference contest Wednesday night and came out on the wrong end of an 83-32 score.
Courtney Stanford led with 12 points and Tusitusia Brown added 11 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
