COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Copper Mountain College men’s basketball team started off the new year with a hard-fought road victory over the Chargers of Cypress College. The Fighting Cacti outscored the Chargers to secure a 79-70 victory. Copper Mountain improves to 14-4 on the season and 1-0 in the Orange Empire conference. Next up is another conference road test Friday, January 5, against Santiago Canyon College at 5 p.m.
Murshid Randal lead CMC in scoring with 15 points, Jaleel Simmons added 14 points, Ronald Bell had a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Isiah Blackmon chipped in 10 points for the Fighting Cacti.

The Copper Mountain College women’s basketball Fighting Cacti began conference play Wednesday on the road versus the defending conference champions, Cypress College. Cypress won the game by a score of 92-40. Coach Hosie Ward said Copper Mountain went into the game with just six players in uniform due to illness and players on vacation.
Celeste Reyes led in scoring with 14 points and six rebounds. Tusitusia Brown added 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
