The U.S. House of Representatives passed two bills Thursday in support of the administration’s immigration crackdown, and Representative Paul Cook of Yucca Valley voted in favor of both of them. Kate’s Law, and No Sanctuary for Criminals Act, passed largely along party lines. Kate’s Law is named for Kate Steinle, who was killed in San Francisco by an illegal immigrant who had been deported several times. The bill would enhance the maximum sentence for criminal immigrants who illegally enter the United States by 10 to 25 years. The No Sanctuary for Criminals Act prohibits “sanctuary cities” from receiving many federal grants. The bills will now go to the Senate where they will face more opposition.
