A Morongo Basin Sheriff’s deputy who keeps close tabs on habitual offenders in Twentynine Palms arrested a known felon Thursday after he found him with multiple firearms, including an AR-15 rifle. Deputy Alexander Stumbo stopped by to check on Michael Calvert, 31, in the 75800 block of Baseline Road about 10:20 a.m. Thursday. While chatting with Calvert, Stumbo discovered that Calvert was in possession of five rifles, including the AR-15 and a bump stock, 13 high-capacity magazines, and a large amount of ammunition. Stumbo arrested Michael Calvert on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, and booked him into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
