CONTROVERSIAL HOUSING PROJECT ON S.R. 62 AT MISSION CREEK KILLED

A controversial proposed housing project on State Route 62 near the Mission Creek Preserve and newly designated Sand to Snow Monument was killed, thanks to a procedural quirk. The Desert Hot Springs City Council voted 2-2 Tuesday to uphold a planning commission decision to deny a three-year extension of the project’s tract map. Since the motion didn’t receive a majority it technically failed, which resulted in the same outcome, upholding the planning commission’s decision to deny the extension.
