Construction and delays this week on Hwy. 62 east of 29 Palms

Expect closures and delays on Twentynine Palms Highway east of Twentynine Palms, as the California Department of Transportation begins a major construction project today (July 10).

This morning, Caltrans starts an asphalt rehabilitation project that will impact Twentynine Palms Highway, also known as State Route 62, most weekdays, between the city of Twentynine Palms and Vidal Junction. 

The major, two-lane thoroughfare will be reduced to one lane of traffic for periods between 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Mondays through Fridays, with delays expected to be fifteen minutes. The California Highway Patrol will be on hand to assist with traffic control and safety.

Ths $4.9 million dollar project is scheduled for completion in December.
