Eighth-graders at La Contenta Middle School in Yucca Valley got a surprise early yesterday: a visit from a real live congressman, namely Rep. Paul Cook. Cook, once the mayor of their home town, regaled the students with stories of the Constitution and its origins during a morning assembly in the school’s multipurpose room.
He also spoke of his interactions with President Obama and Vice-President Biden, as well his travels to Russia and discussions with various world leaders.
The students got to ask a few questions of their own as well, specifically what was the most difficult decision he ever made and, more to the point, how good a student had he been?
