The Morongo Basin Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a volunteer organization whose mission is to provide assistance to the community in the event of a catastrophic emergency. Volunteers with the Morongo Basin Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, are trained to help not only in case of disasters, but also in firefighter rehabilitation. In case of an major wildfire or extreme incident, CERT volunteers will be activated to provide rest, rehydration, nourishment, and medical evaluations to firefighters. The volunteers must provide for their own equipment, supplies, and training expenses. To help offset the costs, CERT volunteers will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Saturday, May 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Yucca Valley. Tickets are $10, or $7 for children under 12, and are available at the door or from the Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce.
