Marines from the Provost Marshall Office’s Special Reaction Team at the Twentynine Palms Combat Center participated in a two-week exercise with the Los Angeles Police Department’s SWAT team earlier this month. During the live-fire exercise, the Marines entered a simulated house looking for hostages and shooters. They learned to use a Throwbot 2 reconnaissance robot and threw in stun grenades. Trainers and observers were situated on observation decks above the rooms and were able to look down into the rooms the Marines entered, and were able to brief the Marines on safety concerns afterward.
