Colorado man wanted for allegedly firing a gun inside Motel 6 in Twentynine Palms

The Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect who is alleged to have fired a gun into a neighboring hotel room.

On Wednesday, March 13, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the Motel 6 on Twentynine Palms Highway in Twentynine Palms, where the say Royce Roche, a 39 year-old resident of Colorado, fired a gun inside of his hotel room and into the neighboring room. The guests in the neighboring room were identified as a 77 year-old man and an 81 year-old woman, both from San Diego. No injuries were reported. 

Deputies say they have reviewed surveillance footage of Roche leaving the motel room with a towel wrapped around his left hand, and say he fled in a white 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer with a California license plate number 9NJB143. 

Roche is currently wanted for a probation violation in Colorado. He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information on the whereabouts of Roche is urged to come forward and contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Morongo Basin Station at (760) 366-4175.
