COLLEGE BOARD RETIRES 5, APPROVES LOCAL GED TESTING

The Copper Mountain College Board of Trustees met yesterday in a regular meeting, with retirement and GED testing on the agenda. Reporter Eric Knabe fills us in…

Spelman Evans Downer, Carolyn Hopkins, Pam Hoyt, Christi Blauwkamp, and Brian Heinemann officially retired from Copper Mountain College.

Ahead of a majority of agenda items the Board of Trustees approved the retirement of five long time employees Pam Hoyt, Christi Blauwkamp, Spelman Downer, Carolyn Hopkins and Brian Heinemann. Many spoke their praises and there was cake. On the subject of accreditation, Superintendent/President Jeff Cummings is waiting for a response from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges for when they will meet in person. And the board approved the contract with Pearson VUE that would allow the Student Success Center to offer the GED testing along with the SSC’s GED prep course, so that students would not have to travel all the way to Palm Desert to take the test.
