During this upcoming semester Andy Smith of Joshua Tree, who is a studio art student at Copper Mountain College, will begin an internship with the Unpaved Gallery located in Yucca Valley. Ernest Figueroa outlines this ongoing partnership between the college and local businesses…
Unpaved Gallery is a contemporary art space run by artists Emily Silver and Stephanie DiGregorio, who met at the School of Visual arts in New York City about 15 years ago. Unpaved Gallery strives to bring in world-renowned artists to help create conversation about contemporary art in the Hi-Desert. Art student Andy Smith is excited to get a taste of a more professional art experience and feels that there’s so much to learn about the physical side of art, art management and the business of working in a gallery. The Copper Mountain College Internship Program develops work experience opportunities by partnering with local businesses providing students with on-the-job experience in an area that will benefit their academic and professional goals. Ultimately, Smith wants to transfer to USC Roski School of Art and Design.
Unpaved Gallery is located at 59474 Scandia Lane in Yucca Valley.
