It’s official, not only will Starbucks be coming to downtown Twentynine Palms, but so will a Cold Stone Creamery ice cream parlor. City manager Frank Luckino said that the ice cream parlor will go in the old AutoZone business on Adobe Road, between the 7-11 convenience store and McDonalds. A date for the opening hasn’t been determined yet, but he said the building just needs to be remodeled, and the appropriate health certificates obtained. The opening of the Starbucks, on the northwest corner of Adobe Road and the highway, will be about 18 months away. Luckino said the city tried to negotiate with Bank of America to keep its ATMs in the city, but they will be permanently removed when construction begins.
