CMC Fighting Cacti Women’s Volleyball season opener

The Copper Mountain College (CMC) Women’s Volleyball team opened their season on Tuesday (September 3) in a spirited contest against Santiago Canyon College. Despite facing challenges with a small roster of just seven players—four of whom were competing in their first-ever collegiate volleyball game—the Fighting Cacti showed resilience but fell in three hard-fought sets.

Head Coach Donald Reyes expressed pride in the team’s determination and effort, saying. “We may not have gotten the win, but the heart and hustle were there,” Reyes said. “With such a young and inexperienced team, I couldn’t be more proud of how they competed. The girls left everything on the court.”

The Fighting Cacti displayed flashes of potential throughout the match, despite the final scoreline, and are focused on building upon the experience as they move forward in the season.

The team will next head to Southwestern College in Chula Vista for a road game this Friday, where they will look to continue their growth and development.
