The Copper Mountain College Board of Trustees will meet in regular session tomorrow (April 14) at 3 p.m., with plans to discuss COVID-19 updates, as well as the challenges faced by the college’s veteran student population. The Copper Mountain College Board of Trustees will meet in regular session tomorrow (April 14) in the Community Room of the Bell Center, with closed session beginning at 2:30 and open session beginning at 3:00 p.m. During closed session, the board will discuss the evaluation of Superintendent/President, Dr. Daren Otten.
As part of their open session agenda, the board will hear updates regarding COVID-19, with masks now optional for students, employees, and visitors at CMC facilities as of April 1. They will also hear updates regarding districting, in addition to discussing the data, services, and needs for the college’s veteran student population as part of a broader discussion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility at the college.
The trustees will also acknowledge 2022 Greenleaf Scholarship recipient, Juliana Jimenez of Yucca Valley High School, with a planned awards celebration following next month’s Board of Trustees’ meeting. The board will later vote to select six candidates for the California Community College Trustees Board.
Continuing the college’s twentieth anniversary celebration, the board will also honor the President of the Morongo Basin Healthcare District Board, Misty Dawn Shakti Sharma, RN. They will also vote to approve a contract with Timeclock Plus LLC to transition to electronic timesheets, as well as voting to renew an agreement with Ellucian Company L.P. for maintenance and support services for college’s student management information system platform.
Finally, the board will hear information about live reading events commemorating the twenty-fifth edition of HOWL, the college’s literary and arts magazine.
