This clarification to a story we aired Wednesday about county permits for short-term vacation rentals in the Morongo Basin. At their meeting Tuesday, county supervisors approved amendments to the County Code regulating short-term vacation rentals and accessory dwelling units. The most significant change is that those who operate AirBnB-type rentals in the desert now have 30 days in which to purchase a two-year operating permit from the county. While the county may not have the permits at this time, it plans on getting them ready within that 30-day timeframe.
