CITY OF TWENTYNINE PALMS CRACKING DOWN ON OUTSIDE TRASH HAULERS

The City of Twentynine Palms is cracking down on outside trash haulers. According to a press release, the city received several complaints of residents hiring companies other than Burrtec to provide “roll-off boxes,” a metal trash container ten cubic yards or larger. The city has an exclusive franchise agreement with Burrtec for all solid waste handling services making Burrtec the only company allowed to provide trash containers and roll-off boxes within the city limits, excluding the Marine Base. There are a few exceptions and citizens can haul their own trash to the transfer station east of the city on Pinto Mountain Road from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Violations could result in misdemeanor charges being filed against the company providing the roll-off box and the person hiring the company. Twentynine Palms Code Enforcement will be mailing courtesy notification letters to all companies providing roll-off boxes to ensure knowledge of and compliance with the municipal code. Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact Twentynine Palms Code Enforcement at 760-367-6799 ext. 1010.
