A carelessly discarded cigarette is believed to have started a rubbish fire in Joshua Tree early this morning. About 3 a.m., neighbors of a home in 62000 block of Mountain View Circle were awakened by the noise from an exploding aerosol paint can that was in a pile of burning discarded roofing materials next to the house. When Joshua Tree firefighters arrived, the neighbors were trying to put out the fire with a garden hose while the home’s residents watched. Firefighters put out the fire in about 10 minutes. There were no injuries.
